    Default Celestron luminous and axiom

So the celestron luminous replaced the axiom eyepiece a few years back but what is the difference if any ? I think the axiom may have been a bit more expensive ?? I have a full set of the newer ones and find them very good although nothing much to compare to. Has anyone compared them to the other 82 degree eyepieces ??

I have the Luminos 19 mm and 7mm eyepieces. They are good...nice 82* AFOV, bright & crisp. Recommended.

I had a chance to compare Luminos to Meade 5000 UWA and Explore Scientific 82 series. My conclusion that for magnifications up to 100x the differences between these 3 series are minimal. They all behave great in fast and slow scopes. Meade felt a bit dimmer than Luminos, however I have only tested 8.8 mm Meade 5000 UWA and they say it is the weakest out of Meade line. At magnifications above 100x and in particular in 150-300x range Explore Scientific was clear winner showing sharpest focus and least light scattering.

Bottom line all 3 series are great DSO EPs, I like in particular crisp bright contrast images and rich colors. Explore Scientific however managed to make their line great for planetary observations and double stars splitting on top of been great DSO EPs.
