Awesome! Glad you like the 8.8mm. The 82º series eyepieces are a whole different breed compared to the ES 70º 25mm.

I've got all but the 6.7mm and 4.7mm, but I plan on adding those two later on as funds allow.

Congratulations. I now recommend a 2" UHC-type filter (the Orion Ultrablock has worked well for me), so that nebula viewing becomes a lot more fun. The Veil Nebula was much more impressive with a filter, and hunting for planetary nebulae is also better with a filter, in my experience. Happy observing!

Bryan, it's a different animal to the 25mm eyepiece. I can't wait to get out and use it again!

Rex, is there a way of using 2" filter with a 1.25" eyepiece?

To preempt Rex a little, the 2" extension tube that may have come with the scope (?) should have 2" filter threads at the bottom inside the tube. The 2" filter screws in there and a 2" to 1.25" eyepiece adapter sits at the top of the tube and hey presto! The 2" to 1.25" adapter/extension tube might also be threaded? If you didn't get the 2" extension tube with the scope (or the 2" to 1.25" adapter/extension tube isn't threaded) you can buy these easily enough (eg. Blue Fireball 2" Eyepiece Extension Tube with 35mm (1.38") Extension # X-03). If adding an adapter to the top of the 2" extension tube the eyepiece adapter probably needs to be a simple flat ring (eg. Blue Fireball 2" to 1.25" Eyepiece Adapter # E-07). If you add the 2" to 1.25" adapter tube that comes with the scope to the 2" extension tube it's likely you won't be able to wind in the focuser enough to bring the eyepiece to focus. Try it and see first though.

The big advantage of a 2" filter is, of course, that you can use them on 2" eyepieces. You can't adapt a 1.25" filter for a 2" eyepiece. Also UHC filters and especially O-III and H-Beta filters respond better when the exit pupil is larger. Larger exit pupils are found on longer focal length eyepieces which is where you'll come across most wide field of view 2" eyepieces.

    Hope that makes sense!!

Cheers Benjamin! Yeah perfect sense. I did get the 2" extension tube with the scope so I'll have a look when I get home to see if it's threaded. My wife will be over the moon that I am astronomically obliged to add 2" filters to my list along with replacing th 1.25" solar and moon filter that I already have

Ha! The moon filter might not need replacing given that you'll likely use shorter focal length eyepieces for that type of viewing and they are most commonly 1.25" eyepieces. Now your wife will be over the moon that you 'only' need 2" filters for the UHC and O-III :-D

Cheers Benjamin. She's absolutely delighted!! I checked the extension piece and it is threaded so me and the wife, especially the wife, are stoked!
