Default Which ar you're 2 favorite Magnifications of EPs?

As you can see in my sig., I have a number of EPs.

I would like to know what are your most commonly used magnification when viewing our Solar System. Mine seem to be either a bit too weak or ineffectively strong. I have a number of possible mags missing from my inventory, so before I buy anymore, I'd like to know what everyone uses most often.

In other words, if you could only grab 2 EPs on your way out the door with an 8 inch app to view planets...what would you stuff in your gear bag?

    Thanks.

I use my X-Cel LX 18mm or 2.5x barlow with my ES 25mm (works out to 10mm effective). I get good views with both. At 10mm it starts to break down depending on seeing.
I tried the 18 mm with the barlow, ends up being about 7.2mm. Jupiter and moons go clear to the edge of view, too much turbulence for a clear view.

If I could only grab a pair, I'd take my 18mm and my 14mm, and sneak the barlow in on the way out.

That would give me 84x, 108x, 169x, and 217x. And then when I had my fill of Solar System stuff, I could go after some DSO's.

I would go with a 20mm and a 9mm so that I had relatively low power with the 20mm (101.6x) and relatively high power with the 9mm (225.7). That would let me take a gander at solar system objects with a fair amount of mag, and the 20 would give me access to globs and some smaller DSO's without losing some of them to the mag.

For me, the 17mm is my go-to eyepiece (90x). If I were bringing two, it would be the 17mm and the 13mm (117x). I can cheat though since the baader hyperions are 22mm without the front group lens. If I was going to look at planets, I'd bring the 5mm (305x). The focal length of the eyepiece would different for your scope though since your F-ratio is different.
