Default Delos 10mm. or Pentax WF 10mm.

I've decided on a 10mm. as my high-power eyepiece. I have a CGEM 9.25 HD (f/10). Which of the Delos or Pentax WF would you choose in 10mm. Prices are very similar in Canada.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Well, I've never used any Pentax eyepiece, so can't comment. But, I think the Delos eyepieces are a bit over-rated (and over priced).

Why not go for an Explore Scientific 82 degree? With the prices over there, you could get 2 or even 3 for the price of the Delos. And 10mm is not particularly high power. If I was in your position, I would get an Explore 11mm and 6.7mm.

I'll duck now before the Delos fans start shooting :-)

I use an 10 mm Pentax XW (the XF's are designed for spotter scopes)..and our Club did a shootout between the Delos and Pentax eyepieces a few months ago...
Pentax was the winner for all 10 mm and under But 14ths were a toss up.. nobody could say for sure which was better OR WHY...

That said ....The 17 Delos was a clear winner over the 20 mm Pentax XW which has some field curvature...

Bottom line not a one of any of these eyepieces were anything less then darn good...color rendition and comfort was the most often thing mentioned by our members ad for why they preferred the Pentaxs.. flip a coin and you can not be wrong...

I love my Pentax XW f=10mm very much.
A shootout between the Pentax XW f=10mm and the Swarovski spotter EP (45x) f=10.22mm is in preparation, but that's about the EPs for the fast refractors.

I meant the XW and not WF. Duh... Thanks for the comments.

I prefer the Delos myself. For people who wear glasses, long ER eyepieces are a easy choice.
I've got the 6, 10, and 17.3. As far as which is better it really is personal preference. Just because I enjoy the Delos series doesn't mean that someone else won't enjoy the Pentax more.
And as much as I like the ES 82*, they cannot be used with my glasses on.

When I said the Delos eyepieces are a bit over-rated, I meant "a bit". They are still serious eyepieces.

But, you are correct to say you won't go wrong with either.

After all, you are choosing between a Rolls Royce and a Bentley.
