    Default Garrett and Agena eyepieces

Are they worth something for good observing? I saw these on eBay, but I am not sure are they quality.

Never heard of Garrett eyepieces. Agena eyepieces are probably those sold by Agena Astroproducts: 1.25" Eyepieces - Eyepieces

As far as I know, Agena uses GSO stock and rebrands them. Many other companies do this -- Zhumell, OPT, etc.

GSO makes pretty good stuff; depending on what you're upgrading from, you'll probably be very happy with them.

It also depends greatly on the telescope you're using and the focal lengths of the eyepieces -- what scope do you have?

As said above agenda eyepieces are rebranded GSO eps. I would guess the same for Garrett. GSO. Makes some nice eyepieces for the money. The wide field eps do not work well on fast f ratio scopes. Anything below say f/5, I'd stay way from the wide fields.

They look good, indeed. But I didn't know that they use GSO design. My friends amateurs here in Croatia use mostly GSO scopes and Ep's and they are satisfied with quality. The only pity is that Garrett eyepieces are shipped only via USPS Priority Mail International which overlap twice it's price.

Not sure about shipping costs across the pond. I bet you can find a GSO dealer with the same eps under a different name over there.

I've used both and even owned a couple over the years...either are high end..but every one I have used preformed fine in the scopes I used them in.. I too have the sneaky feeling that the both are basically the same eyepiece...

I have purchased a tron and a half of stuff from Agena .. Manish knows how to keep his customers happy...very good service ... reliable and HONEST dealer...

I have only used my Agena 20mm SWA but I really like it for the price ($40) and I have heard that Agena does have very good customer service. I have heard of Garrett but I have never used any so I cant say. But yea more then likely they are all GSO rebranded...which isnt a bad thing, especially if you are wanting more budget/performace gear.

    The Garrett's eyepieces are here,

    Eyepieces

but hardly anybody would understand why Garrett offers them.

I have the Garrett 10, 15 and 20 SWA eyepieces and for inexpensive wide angle glass they seem to work fine. I use them in both a 120st refractor and a 130mm reflector (both f/5), the images are not pin sharp to the edges of fov but for the price of these lenses pretty good. I am probably not as discriminating as others here, more of a casual viewer. These also work well in my 8" f/6 dob reflector. I would guess Garrett sells them for use in their binocular telescopes but those are out of my current budget.... wc
