    Default celestron zoom arrived smudged

think i'll be sending my celestron 8-24 back for a replacement. arrived new in box w/ lens that goes against eye covered in "smudge/prints". unscrewed that piece and sure enough on both sides!?!

guessing either someone looked at/used it and took apart and got oil/prints on it and left em and they have set in or someone tried to clean it and has swirled the coating off.

either way, not sure i wanna start off w/ a new eyepiece like that.

was happy w/ build quality for price point otherwise.

Send it back. That glass should be pristine.

This is a decent eye piece. You get good views through it. But once you pay good money for a new ep....it should be just that ..new.
I would look to get your expenses covered and quickly.
