    Default Best Barlow for under 50 bucks



    hey, being new at this. Seems like I just ordered the meade 8-24 zoom lens. What would be the best barlow for under 50 bucks. I know the more glass the more objects may dim. But thats about all I know...

    Barlows are so simple you pretty much get what you pay for. Try OPT for shopping on line. I've been happy with their own brands.

    Pick one and buy it. If you get as OLD as BOB and myself your eyepiece collection will expand to infinity--- and you will probably never use the barlows again! Ha!

    If you have a 2 inch focuser the zhumell 2 inch 2X ED barlow is really pretty good (49.00). If you are limited to a 1.25 inch focuser the GSO 1.25 shorty worked well for me and gets good reports on the forums (around 35.00).

    Go with the 2 inch if you can, it comes with a 2 to 1.25 adapter and has compression rings on both the barlow and the adapter.

    The TeleViews and other high glass are for sure better but these are very servicable barlows. Think of them as Fords and Cheveys, they wont turn heads like a high end German car but they will get you to the star party!
