Red face Will it ever end?

I remember a little more than a year ago when I started looking at replacement eye pieces. The ETX-90RA I purchased included a set of Celestron plossls and the Meade 26mm plossl. I used to love to bury my eye into the EP-no eye relief whatsoever. But, now that I have gone through several different brands and types of eye pieces, I find the extra eye relief some offer very comfortable indeed. It took me a while to adjust but I inevitably overcame.

Recently, I received a brand new pair of Naglers to replace my Radian's and Hyperion's. A 13mm and a 7mm Nagler, and I have to say, that even though these are great performers, the eye relief stinks! For me they do anyway. I've also recently discovered that I require glasses too so, that adds to my dismay. Regardless the outstanding performance a TV Nagler may offer, if the eye relief isn't up to par with your needs, it isn't the eye piece for you.

So here I am, again, returning my EP's for a refund. This time, I think I will try for the 6mm Delos. I read the eye relief is a nice 20mm so we'll see. That is if I can find someone who has them in stock. If that doesn't work, I guess its back to the Radians. And so the hunt for the perfect EP continues...does it ever end? Clear skies to yall.

Next you are going to have to buy a larger scope to measure up and exploit the quality of the Delos...

Truthfully though, do you have astigmatisim. Just because you wear glasses does not mean you have to wear them while viewing. The scope itself will still focus. If you have significant astigmatisim, however, you will need to wear your glasses while viewing. Check your script for astigmatisim.

Does anyone have any experience with TeleVue's astigmatism corrected prescription ep filters? I also have astigmatism and thinking seriously about trying.

I do not, but thought I'd provide a link to those that weren't aware of it: Tele Vue Optics: DIOPTRX™

There is one sure way to avoid the endless search. That is to do lot of research on the net, wait until you are sure, and then (while holding your nose) buy the best EPs available. Right now this would be Ethoi, with runner up status to ES100s.

In 1989 and 1990 I collected a whole set of Nagler T1 and T2s. In the mid 1990s I added a 31mm NT5. Last year I replaced them with Ethoi, added a 9mm ES120 and now a 25ES100. I am probably set for another 2 deacdes (or the rest of my life as I am already 60).
