    Default 1.25" or 2" BARLOW?

Hi, I am getting a used Nexstar 8SE and I have a 2" Revelation dielectric diagonal to use with it. At the moment I have a Baader zoom eyepiece and a meade 2" 32mm wide angle eyepiece.
My question is, is it worth getting a 2" barlow to keep everything 2"? or will it make little difference mixing the 1.25" and 2" bits up?

    Thanks in advance, Martin

I started with some 2 inch parts and never use them. Stay with 1.25 inch. They cost less and do just as well.

I was going to suggest the opposite. The 2 inch Barlows can be used with 1.25 inch EP's so the 2 inch Barlow can do double duty.

Hi, also does anyone now much about the Baader Barlow that you can get as an extra to go with the Baader zoom eyepiece?

I am of the opposite opinion.

I only have 2" stuff now-a-days, converting my remaining 1.25" EPs to 2" with a bbarrel and parfocalizing ring so in effect, every EP focus at just about exactly the same point.

The 2" Barlow will do everything the 1.24" Barlow will do, AND in addition, support any/all 2" EPs that you may have.

So, if you intend to be in the astronomy 'game' for any length of time, you might just as well do it with 2" gear <bank accounts permitting>.

Gotta agree with Mitch. If you are all set up for 2" then why change anything now.

I do not believe the baffle HOLE in the Celestron 8 inch is actually 2 inches wide ???

If it is not the 1.25 inch is what you should buy in eyepieces UNDER about 26mm. The 2 inch barlow will work on either size eyepiece.

The hole in my LX90 8 inch is about 1.7 inches wide.
