Default Which zoom eyepiece for the PST?

As it says in the title.
At the moment I am using a Baader Hyperion 13mm and that is the best I have got for the PST. I would like a zoom eyepiece that is at least equal in performance.
    The contenders are:-

    Baader Hyperion MkIII
    Meade Zoom
    Lunt zoom
    Pentax XF 19.5-6.5mm

Any others, I'll be happy to hear about.

I have yet to try a Zoom. I did order the Meade 8-24 Zoom though since I couldn't pass it up at 99.00CAD. I wanted something to use for public events, star parties, friends, family, etc. where I wasn't worried about my nicer eyepieces. I also wanted something to grab and go without taking all of my gear out and it seemed to fit the bill nicely. We'll see when I get to use it but other posters on this forum have all liked it.

I was going to get the Hyperion Zoom but couldn't justify the 2.5X price tag over the Meade.

I can't wait to get it though. It's fun to get new gear.

    Hi Darren,

The hyperion zoom is the EP I use with my PST. I like it........... but i would say that since i'm a fan of the hyperion zoom! ................ it's my work horse EP used for observing in all my scopes. Never tried any of the others on your list so I can't say how they compare to the hyperion. It is quite a heavy, chunky EP i have no problem using it with the PST ..... Is there anyway you could try out some of the zooms on your list, at your local astro club or star party?

........ahh, decisions, decisions, it's all part of the fun

    Enjoy

    Carol

Hi there, I have heard that the Meade and Baader eyepieces performance are similar. I like the fact that you can fit a DLSR onto the Hyperion zoom, plus the extra weight seem to make my PST ride my mount a lot smoother.
