    Default Dobs and erecting prism?

Does anyone use an erecting prism with Dob scopes? I am a total newbie, trying to get used to the upside down, inverted view in the Dob and was wondering if its worth using one to make it easier? If so what brands are best. I have a 2" with 1.25" adapter crayford focuser. I am using a Zhumell Z8.

    thanks for any help

It adds glass which transaltes as a loss of quality. Generally astronomical objects have no real up or down thats meaningful so people dont bother.

What does make a difference though is the finder - either having a corrected finder or a red dot to make life a bit easier. Its quite hard to find stuff when your using an uncorrected finder - at least thats my experience.

For hunting I prefer a red dot finder as a general rule.
Thirty spokes meet at the nave, because of the hole we may use the wheel.
A cup is moulded from clay, because of the hollow we may use the cup.
Four walls surround a hearth, because of the doors we may use the house.
Thus tools come from what exists, but use from what does not.

I bought an erecting prism for use in my Skywatcher Heritage dob from Harry Siebert for terrestrial viewing. It screws into the bottom of an eyepiece. It works well, with little or no perceptable light loss, which doesn't matter for daytime viewing anyway.

I hardly use it now that I have refractors.
