I agree with you there AbbN. $144 (incl taxes) for a reasonable zoom works for me. I have at least 5 eyepieces that it will save me swapping out every few minutes of observing.
I can see my first task being to compare the eyepieces I have within the 8-24mm range to the Meade zoom and if there is no perceptiple difference, then I will be a happy camper, and from the reviews I have read so far, there seems to be little to no difference.

With three people in this thread alone ordering one, it will be interesting to compare notes, nice wide variety of scopes between the three of us as well, maks, refractors, dobs and newts. Should make for some interesting reading.

Anyone else get asked by the other half "what are you doing?" reply "reading the forums" then the dreaded - " Is that all you do all day?" LOL She still doesn't understand why I read threads on equipment I don't own and probably never will.

Yes. She understands why I read reviews about equipment though. She doesn't like it cause it means I shopping for my next purchase. Of course, I always seem to be shopping for my next purchase.

With my lack of a thorough understanding of how each EP can effect me and at what price makes what difference specifically to my telescope causes me a lot of indecisiveness. I do not like indecisiveness especially with myself. j.gardavsky responded to a comment I made about this EP indecisiveness and it helped me move forward. His quote was:

So today, I threw out the indecisiveness and have joined the fray of Meade Zoom buyers!
