    Gracias Amigo!

This sounds like a great thing for folks north of the border, but may turn out not-so-much for us in more southerly latitudes.

Edit: Just tried to see what would happen ordering the lens - can't do it - US is not listed as a country in the drop-down list (only Canada is there).

Tell us how the binos work when you get them, AbbN!

THANKS. Been bad enough here as it is, we don't need you two ordering new zooms to bring even more clouds, and with the free binos offer, how many others are going to be ordering new kit this weekend?

Seriously though, looking forward to hearing how the zooms are, been looking at either the meade or the baader, not overly concerned with the parfocal aspect. Will still be quicker to focus than swapping eyepieces out.

Pulled the trigger and ordered the Meade Zoom for myself, the weathers been bad enough here as it is, another order can't make it any worse. I can always make use of a free set of Binos too.

I am ready to order the Meade zoom too, then I found this thread at StarGazersLounge.

The MEADE 4000 series Plossls and zoom were superb products when made in Japan, but production has been shifted to China and the quality isn't nearly as good.
I have the Chinese-made MEADE Zoom and the twist focusing feels "rough"; there doesn't seem to be any lubrication at all.
As for optical quality, it's pretty ordinary.
I think I will wait to hear a review from you guys first. I didn't know they switched from Japan to China for manufacturing or even if that will actually matter for the Meade Zoom. I will just exercise caution here, especially since I've already had to return both Meade ETX-80s that I just purchased.

That works for me, regardless of where it's made!My scopes are made in China and I think they're great. If I was spending close to $300, then I'd be a bit concerned. But the price is right. And besides, the free 10x50 binos MUST be better than my crappy old Bushnell 10x50 binos
