Default eyepiece suggestions for wo megrez90

hey all, I bought a wo megrez90 on black fridaywith the intention of pieceing together a system as i can afford it.a month later i got the 2 inch wo diagonal. now i am thinking about eyepieces.I was thinking of getting a couple of hyperions with the tuning rings and a barlow. does this make sense? does anyone have this scope that can suggest what works well with it?its a 90mm f6.2 with a focal length of 558mm. all help appreciated. thanks

    Hi, welcome to the forum!

Beautiful hi-performance ED scope that you have there! I do have a WO Megrez scope too, the 102ED SV (F/7) and can tell you that the Hyperion eyepiece (EP) that you're considering work well with the Megrez. Which focal length should you get? To start off, get one that will yield around a 2mm exit pupil (the tube of light that comes off the eye lens) because it will provide the sharpest and clearest view with your scope, or the best visual acuity. Just multiply your scope speed with 2mm, 6.2 x 2 = 12.4, or a Hyperion 13mm. Coupled with the tuning rings (14mm & 28mm) that you've mentioned, it will give you additional focal lengths of 10.8, 9.2 and 8.1mm's. I have the tuning rings too and they work well with my Hyperion 21mm. But if you're considering getting several Hyperions, another out-of-the-box option is to get the Hyperion 8-24mm zoom, for the price of 2 Hyperions, you get a very versatile zoom EP to use with your scope, my favorite to use among my 60+ eyepieces. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

    Best,

    Hernando

Check out the Explore Scientific II 14mm 82-degree AFOV which is on sale right now for $99! The Meade UWA Series 5000 equivalent is also a good choice with good reviews. Then of course, the Nagler 13mm T6 if you're a stickler for pin-point tack sharp to the very edge views.

    Best,
