    Default Wide angle eyepiece recommendations?

Once I get my coma corrector, I can see that one of my next purchases will be a wide angle eyepiece. I already have a 15mm and a 6mm. With it being an f/4 scope (200 mm x 800 mm), my upper limit is going to be about 28 mm, so I am thinking about something in the 25-28 mm range.

I want something that will make my jaw drop. I don't want to break the bank doing it, but I don't want something junky, either.

    Any recommendations?

Hi, is a 68-degree apparent-field-of-view (AFOV) wide enough for you? If so, then the Panoptic 27mm is perfect per your specs, pin-point tack sharp to the edge and great contrast/light transmission (it's my favorite to use too among my dozen long focal length eyepieces). Other alternatives are the Meade SWA 28mm Series 5000, or the William Optics UWAN 28mm (82-deg). Then, being on sale right now, the Explore Scientific 30mm 82-deg (or the 24mm) is worth checking out.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,

    Hernando
