Exclamation Meade Series 4000 12.4mm Super Plossl - How to Clean and Why Unclear?

I just bought a used but good condition Meade 12.4mm Super Plossl Eyepiece.

I used it for the first time to look at an apartment building a couple of miles away (to align the EZ Finder II) from my window.

The antenna I saw on the roof was clear but a little hazy. The focus was fine. The same view from an Orion 25mm Plossl was much sharper and clearer.

    I have 3 questions:
Why was more magnification not sharper if the eyepiece is good quality?
Is it because the more magnified an image, the blurrier it is?
Maybe the eyepiece is dirty? How do I clean an eyepiece using household items?
Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew.
    Floating down, the sound resounds
    Around the icy waters underground.

More magnification means seeing conditions are magnified too. Daylight means more stray light and haze - therefore, magnification makes picture much worse.
Correct, the bigger the magnification, the harder to focus, and the less contrast image is. It's also because with magnification the picture gets dimmer as well.
Do not clean optics unless absolutely necessary. Use only special microfiber cloth, and rub always from center out in straight moves very gently. Optics has coating, which is quite sensitive. To see if the EP is clean, just have a look through it at a well lit piece of white paper. Any dirt will be exposed.
    Cheers,
    Michael
