Default 4 Reticle Red Dot Finder Question

I have the 4 reticle red dot finder that came with my 10" LB. The four reticles are:

1.) Red Dot
2.) Cross
3.) Cross with a circle in the middle
4.) Red Dot with a circle around it (Telrad-ish, but with only one circle)

On that note, does anybody know the diameter of the circle on reticle #4? It seems to be about one degree, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks!

Hello sevenhelmet! I would try the manufacturer's website. Google it if it is not printed on the body of your finder. If that doesn't lead to the answer, compare it to something known like the angular diameter of the moon; around 29 to 33 seconds, depending.

Good luck and clear skies!

Great idea, Bob. I did exactly that last night from a dark sky site.

The setting circle on the reflex finder is 30' in diameter. I actually like that reticule best now since I know exactly how big it is. I know a lot of people harp on these reflex finders, but I'm liking it so far.

Thumbs up

Thanks, SH, you inspired me to get a second hand Telrad down off the shelf, dust it off and slap it on my dob. I haven't played with it yet, as I got rained out last night. Buuuttt, I came across a pretty good link on the Telrad which you might like to look over:[Registered users can see links. ].

Hope you find it useful.
