Please explain telescope eye-pieces. Does the higher the mm mean more magnification?

Actually the opposite is true. To find the magnification of an eyepiece you divide the focal length of the telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece. For example my xt 6 dob has a focal length of 1200 mm so if I am using a 25 mm eyepiece the magnification is 48 X; if I am using my 10 mm eyepiece the magnification is 120 X. I hope this helped. |
