Default Sundry equipment bag or case

Hi. I have a mundane inquiry. Been searching the forum for info about what folks use to tote around odds and ends so they stay organized. The Celestron eyepiece/filter kit comes in a nice "suitcase" and I have a carrying case for the 8SE, but I'm looking for a handy bag or case for other stuff - extra eyepieces, cords, remotes, caps, flashlight, suppression pads, ref matl, batteries etc. Was thinking a camera case would be reconfigurable (good) with Velcro dividers (hate 'em.) Looking for alternatives.

Harbor Freight carries an aluminum case that many have used. They also carry the Apache cases as well.

I have aluminum cases now, and I just bought a boatload of Bolt Cases from Agena (all on sale 'till the 31st) for the eyepieces. And I didn't thinkl that there were bolt cases big enough...well there are!

I am going to use hard-cell foam that I got from work (packing for server-class computers, and radio transmission equipment) and make round cutouts for each bolt (eyepiece) on one layer, and a full layer underneath (and on the top). I have had a lot of luck gluing foam together with [special] contact cement.

Yes folks, this is what I have been doing while not working, driving, or sitting at the computer on a rainy/icy evening!

My take: stay organized, and keep the stuff safe. If you take one eyepiece out, put it back in a case, put the caps on, etc. or you are bound to wreck something. Doug, my rescue Pug, actually did a #1 on my Russel Optics 2" zoom lens when he came out to see me one night last year. It was never the same.

If you take care of this stuff, it will last a lifetime.

Edited: Oh, I forgot...I actually bought a Label Maker, and I am going to label the bolt cases, e.g. "Meade 20mm SWA".

OK, back to cleaning the basement now...

Thanks Rick and Marc! Will check them all out. I already purchased a label maker. Thinking of labeling the caps for the eyepieces. What else do you label, Marc?

Rick, those Apache type cases remind me of cases for pistols, which I'd just sandwich between the eggcrate foam. Guessing you replace/cut foam as necessary for initial & changed configurations.

Marc, would you please tell me what you use to cut the foam? Is the "special" contact cement plain ol' contact cement?

No, those cases have pluck foam so you can configure your EPs however you'd like to.
