    Default Filter slide for dob?

Hello all, I'm thinking of getting a filter slide for my dob so I can just use 2" filters and have them loaded and ready to go. Has anyone had any experience adding one to a dob like the AD10 or a Zhumell or the like? Anything I need to look at specifically? Any issues to be aware of?

Reaso I ask is it seems as I remember hearing something about the use of them on dobs like mine a while back but can't remember what the verdict was. I really would like some way to not have to screw a filter on the end of each eyepiece every time I change pieces out. Also, any certain one I should look into? Thanks.

I'm glad you asked these questions because I have also been thinking about using filters with my Dob. It's such a pain to screw them on the eyepiece especially in the dark. I hope you get some good responses !

Not the answer you're looking for, but all I do is hold the filter over the EP. Then I can take a view with and without filter.
If I want a longer view, I'll then screw the filter onto the EP.

Ive tried this a few times but seems like it's prone to stray light if you don't get them perfectly flat.

    Hello DM,

the first thing to check is how much travel "inside" has your focuser with the mounted EP.
Next to a slim filter slide, like those for the not mounted filters, yo'll eventually need a shorty tube to hold the EP.
In the worst case scenario, and it applies most of the times, you'll need a shorty focuser, a slim filter slide, and a shorty tube for the EP.
This has been the last replacement on my 6" refractor.

    Best,
