Tom you ought to get these: Hand-adjustable secondary collimation thumbscrews and do away with using a screwdriver for making adjustments to the secondary. I put them on my Z10 and they already came on the AD12.

Great idea, Greg! I will have to get a set to replace the foam in my old Lowe's aluminum case. Are they easy to cut into shape?

That's a good idea. I don't have to adjust the secondary very often on my scopes, but that would sure spare me a bit of worry of having my screwdriver fall inside the OTA.

The local HF in my area is only about 6 months old. They didn't have any of the black cases either! I went on line searching for foam inserts, and was shocked by some of the prices that are being asked.

I wound up taking out some pieces from my current case that I haven't used, and made some room for my new stuff.

Thanks to all for your help.

Hey Cookie, which HF store were you at, Parsippany? I did a find a store check for Roseland, NJ and you have several around you (Clifton, Union, Saddlebrook, etc.) You might find the cases at one of those. If its a bit of a drive you might have to buy two to make it worth your while!

Alan, Parsippany is my closest one. Clifton is about the oldest one and a bit of a dump. Union is about a half hour away, but I'd go to that area if I had a CCW. I haven't been to the Saddlebrook location, that's about another 15 miles west of Union. I may take a ride there tomorrow.

Though Clifton might be a dump, being around the longest they might have more stuff. I suppose one could call the stores to see if they have them in stock. The make and item number are: Voyager - item#69318

Anyway, good luck with your hunt.

I might as well take the ride. The majority of the time they answer the phone they give you bad information. It won't be the first time I called a store and they said they had what I want, only to find out when I got there that they didn't.

These cases are out of stock most of the time at the store I go to. Like others have said, be careful and double check the foam before buying. The ones they have had in stock the last few times were missing the foam. There is another model case, usually right next to the one talked about here that is identical to it but has no foam and uses separators to form compartments. Don't grab one of those by mistake.

BTW, here is a link to a 25% coupon off any single item. It is good through Sunday the 13th. I get these kind of offers via email from them frequently (as well as via mail). That will knock some off the case.
