Default Need a case for eyepieces

.. and barlows & filters. Perhaps for the RACI 8x50 finder and Telrad as well? Or do you guys just leave those 2 pieces on the tube when transporting? Or do you have a seperate case for them vs. the eyepieces.

I want a case that is really sturdy and not going to come apart like my other pluck foam case I bought for camera equipment a few years back for $40.. Maybe I put too much weight in it I dunno.

    Hello Jennifer.

A lot of folks like the cases at Harbor Freight: 18 in. x 6 in. x 13 in. Aluminum Case

I have three: one for EP's, one for other accessories, and one spare just in case. These do have pluck foam as well as configurable dividers.

    IMG_0586.JPGIMG_0585.JPGIMG_0587.JPG

Sorry for the sideways view. I'll blame Windows 10. It worked before that upgrade.

A more expensive option, and a very nice one, is this: Wood Wonders Field Cases

Just some options to consider. Looks like the nearest Harbor Freight to you is on Sheridan, or one down in Broken Arrow. Might be a fun drive.

You guys must have too many cloudy nights. Or maybe if I stopped buying stuff I could get organized too.

    image.jpg

They are pricey but the pelican cases are really tough. We use them at work and ship equipment around the world.

I have some camera bags that work quite nicely for eyepieces. Camera lenses and eyepieces are about the same.

If you look below in the similar threads there is a guy who made one out of wood. Very inspiring.

I just put my eyepieces and barlow into Agena Astro bolt cases, then I put the bolt cases into my DSLR bag since it had modular compartments designed for camera lenses. It might not be as fancy as a pelican case, but for the 2 eyepieces and barlow I have, it gets the job done nicely.

I am looking at cases from monoprice, but have not gotten one yet. Someone (Sorry, can't remember who) posted this a while ago.

I take off all of outboard accessories when I transport the scope ...

I've not found the "perfect" eyepiece/accessory case yet...currently, everything I have to carry is in a Harbor Freight and Telescope aluminum upright case, and for the additional stuff when traveling, I use a carry on type luggage piece...It has everything but the kitchen sink in it, used mostly for star parties...

being a musician, the Anvil style ATA cases appeal to me more than the Pelicans....EBay has tons of both for sale used....I'm always about saving a dollar when I can...The HF case currently in use was either $29 or 39....I waited forever.. it never did go on sale....

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty done with buying for now...I have the basics...next level is the EQ platform...battery power for heaters and what not...

Another vote for the Harbor Freight case. They are of good quality and you certainly can't beat the price, even if you use it for a trial run case to judge what your end needs may be.

    Just the case?

I have some of those agena bolt cases. Funny, I never realilzed they really are shaped like a bolt with a hex head and simulated straight slot in the bottom.
