    Default Williams Optics Dielectric/Meade LX200 8" Question

    Hello All!!
I recently got the Williams Optics dielectric diagonal, but found that the end that is to thread into the scope will only go in about two to three threads. Is that normal? It doesn't feel right, but I wouldn't know, I searched the forums, but couldn't find anything.

It should screw in easily, fully, and without forcing it: you might be crossing the threads, so try it very carefully to make sure it is square with the body.

Check to see that the thread is clean as well.

    Good luck!

    - Dean

Dean! Thanks for your reply, is there any way I could clean the threads? I checked I out again, and after two full turns, it stops. Is there a thread cleaner that is safe for scope end?

First determine where your problem is located.. the threads of the telescope or the threads of the diagonal?

If your visual back screws onto the rear of the telescope with no problems then the difficulty is in the threads of the diagonal. If you can not screw the visual back onto the telescope then the problem is with the telescope. The most likely problem is a machining bur left in the threads of the diagonal.

Use a clean, dry, stiff, toothbrush to clean the suspected threads.

Scope is OK, looking at diagonal, how would I go about cleaning the threads?
