Default Can you suggest a filter for a refractor fo AP?

What would be a good 2" filter to help reduce aberrations from a ST SW 102mm refractor? As with all refractors, bright objects are surrounded by different colours. It's fine for viewing but not appropriate for AP.

Is there a filter that could help with that?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hey Paul,
Not sure if you saw this thread I started awhile back or not...

Has anyone else used a LP filter to remove CA?

The Celestron UHC filter works very well on CA. Hope this helps... BTW, how are you doing with DSS?

Thanks Jim, I think I'll give it a try. Only $75 at B&H.

I haven't used DSS in the last couple weeks because I was anxiously waiting for my new CCD (SBIG STF8300c). I just received it on Wednesday. I also purchased Nebulosity to control it, and it also has stacking capabilities. My other CCD (StarShoot G3) I realise is just a toy compared to this one. So once I am comfortable using it, I will probably try stacking with DSS again.

So much to learn, so much fun!

    Thanks again,
    Paul
