    Default Lumicon Filters

Has anyone purchased any filters direct from Lumicon in the last 3 or 4 months?

If so, what was your experience like?

I ordered and received an oxygen 3 filter maybe 2 months ago? as far as I can remember, the shipping was unremarkable (quick) and the filter looks quality; I was impressed by the fact that the filters are individually tested and the transmission numbers written in ink on the label.

I have only used the filter a few times so far and to my inexperienced eyes, it does the trick...............now if I had it to do over, I might be tempted to hold off on purchasing the O3 and spend the money elsewhere, cause at this point I do not use it a ton, but it is still a tool that I possess.

I ordered an UHC from them at the beginning of December. I was told they were in production and expected ship time was 2-3 weeks. 2-3 weeks later and no filter. I was then told they just needed silkscreening or something but it was the holidays and manufacturing would stop over the holidays. First week of January and still no filter. I put a claim in with Paypal to protect myself so I wouldn't lose my money and they contacted me apologizing about the time it was taking. They actually asked me to cancel my claim and only 'then' would they ship it. I told them once I had a tracking number or had the item in my possession would I cancel the claim. They instead refunded my money to cancel my claim and told me to make another order and my filter would ship immediately. That was a few days ago, haven't heard anything from them, no tracking number, nothing.

I'm giving them until the 30th and if I don't have anything by then, i'm getting my money back and going with someone else, maybe Baader, not sure.

I was just curious if anyone else has been having problems like this, or if it was just me and an unfortunate set of circumstances.

Sounds like you had no problems, which is a good sign for me, i was starting to think they were trying to scam me out of my money.

    Hey thanks JG!

Actually the spectral scans you posted are of my VHT, which is a nifty "midband" filter for smaller scopes.

UHC fans would want to order the NPB.

    Hello Dan,

nice to have one more friend, after Gerd Neumann and Don Goldman. I am old school, and prefer to talk to people before making my mind up.

It would be great, if you could post, or link, an update on the spectral curves, those from Karmalimbo and others are ages old. The VHT has an excellent transmission, those high def may be very interesting. (Can't imagine the DGM making anything nifty)

Best regards from a still learning filter freak,

Still haven't heard anything from Lumicon about my '2nd Order', so I sent an email to them again stating my displeasure at there lackluster service. Told them I want a tracking number by tomorrow or I'll be putting in yet another claim with paypal to get my money back. If that happens, I'll be going with someone else.

I know one thing for sure, I will NEVER order anything from Lumicon again, worst experience ever.

I know you guys recommended a couple filters, I don't know much about wavelengths and what not, so could someone in the know recommend 'the best' UHC filter for bringing out Nebulae and for reducing the effects of extreme LP. I originally went with Lumicon because from all the info I found, they were supposedly the best.
