I am extremely happy with my Pelican 1550 (about 18"x15") with pluck foam. If you ever have expensive eyepieces, you will want them well protected.

Thanks for all your responses everyone! Sorry i've not replied until now, it's been a busy week at work!

and keyroute unfortunately I am not the author, just a coincidental name!

I do read and enjoy his books, and it's always fun when visitors come around to the house and see them on my book shelf, they definitely have a rethink!

Pelican is hard to beat. I have taken quite a few trips down the river and the cameras always come out great. Great protection from shock and water and the foam comes grid cut so it can be customized. The "protector" series works well. These things will take a beating and your eyepieces won't have to.

A great budget option is a 50 cal. ammo can and a bit of foam rubber. Even using the boxes and packing that the eyepieces come in, works well in these. Sturdy metal with a waterproof seal. I've used one of these for years before the Pelican came along. The one I still have dates back to the 70's and made many many trips through white water without a single failure. Check the seal in the lid if you go this route and paint it white for heat reduction. Not too large and multiple units stack well.
