    Default Accessories Case Idea

Today, while wandering the aisles of a local Home Depot, I found a case in the tool section that I feel could be used as an accessory case. It just happened to be on clearance for $15, down from $25. I haven't completely decided on how it will be used, but the "fit and finish" is pleasing to the eye. It should make a great accessory case.

It's a Husky Aluminum Tool Case with a removable pouch and sectioned storage compartments. I intend to replace the compartment sections with foam and then design cutouts to fit my growing list of accessories. I can see carrying eyepieces, diagonals, filters, etc. in this box. Maybe something like this will work for you.

Here are a few pictures to illustrate what it looks like. No modifications have been made......yet.

    Clear Skies Everyone,

Nice looking case - I bet you wind up wishing you'd bought 2 in about 6 months.

Nice find Tom, I may pop by my nearby HD tomorrow and see if they have one. Since I'm using the AT72 more and more I really don't feel like lugging the big box with the C6 and everything out all the time, this plus the fitted case for the scope would make a nice substitute plus I have a mid-size (8" x 10" roughly) pelican-style plastic case for the EPs if I need to use it.

I bought one of those last month for my cameras and 70mm scope. I still have to finish sculpting foam inserts for them. It was $20 when I got it, a can't go wrong price.

I use 2 of these cases in my job as a freelance bassist. One contains ALL my cables, the other has all my accessories, some pedals and stuff like that.I've had them for 2 years and they're still going strong, although a bit battered and bashedI got mine for £10 each from a local branch of Lidl. Definitely good VFM!

I bought one of these for my 2" eye pieces, and my 2" TeleVue Big barlow. I love it.

I took this to heart and went to a different HD to pick up a second one. I've put them both to use now, separating out my camera stuff and Eyepiece items.

Foam for the cases cost me almost as much as both cases, but I got tired of searching for the right stuff and the items in each are way too expensive not to be protected. Win/Win? Works for me.

A couple pictures here might help someone with ideas.

The foam I used is 1 inch thick bought at walmart intended for pillows or cushions, I think. I stacked 3 deep in the bottom and 2 in the top. Doing a "shake, rattle and roll (didn't roll it really) test resulted in everything staying exactly where I put it.

    Clear Skies,

I picked one up the other day, it makes a nice match to the case for the AT72. I may just go get another one to have 'just in case'
