Default Barlow Selection - Celestron Ultima or GSO 2.5 Barlow?

That looks like a neat set up. And that brings me to a question.
I was looking to get a decent barlow and I have no idea what the ED lens barlows are all about. Do they do a better job of transmitting light?
I am swinging between the Celestron Ultima and the GSO 2.5 barlow that is here:

GSO 1.25" 2.5x Apochromatic Barlow Lens

I know I keep asking you these questions all the time but I trust your knowledge and insights into all things eypeieces etc.

Thanks Balu, the barlow and EP seem made for each other; and thanks too for the new avatar, I like it much! Thanks for giving a face to the name, lookin' good!

About the barlow choice, I've read numerous raves about the Celestron Ultima 2x barlow so that would be a good choice no doubt. As I understand it, ED has to do with improving color correction by adding another lens to the optical train. But if I were you, will add a few more $'s and go for the Televue 2x barlow, the difference is not much, probably the best value for performance out there in my opinion, and the quality is good with the legendary name to back it up. Just an option. Good luck in your astro decisions & purchases!

    Best,

    Hernando

Best of all, there's a sale now for Televue products, 20% off, so the TV 2x barlow is even cheaper now! I think this is the best time for anyone considering a barlow, to get the TV 2x. (Good for us eyepiece consumers, there's a price war going on right now, Explore Scientific, now Televue, and there's also Smart Astronomy, Orion also etc., others may follow suit. Yay! )

    Best,

    Hernando
