Default Lunt 60mm PT, upgrade 50mm DS to 60mm DS?

A couple of years ago I purchased a Lunt 60mm Ha scope and somehow managed to order it with the 50mm double stack unit. Honestly I'm not sure why they sell that combination (probably sticker shock) but for visual solar observing it has been fantastic. It's also been great for some imaging.

However it's always bugged me that I didn't order the 60mm double stack unit, but I'm considering it now. It's pricey, but I'll sell my 50mm DS unit. The difference in price after all is said and done will probably be around $600.

Are the views any better with the 60mm? I do dabble with some B&W imaging, so capturing some more detail might be worthwhile.

    Any thoughts on this?

I have the Lunt LS60 PT scope with the 60mm doublestack as I originally bought the scope on it's own and DS'ed a few years later. Lunt (when they started)sold the LS60 with the 50mm DS filter because that's what they had and for price reasons I think it's stayed that way( the 60mm filter wasn't available at the time). The area increase from 50 to 60mm is about 45%, and this increase in brightness helps with imaging, binoviewing and also with doublestacking, so there are benefits to going up to the 60mm.

Thanks for your reply. Did you ever get a chance to use yours with a 50mm double stack unit to compare to the 60mm DS filter?

No, I only DS'ed it with my Coronado 40mm DS filter, and a coronado 60mm DS filter. There was a very noticeable increase in brightness from the 40mm filter and a slight improvement in brightness over the Coronado 60mm( not sure if that was to do with the central obstruction of the coronado or it's ERF. I do own a doublestacked Lunt LS100 as well, but love the DS view of the full disk with the LS60, very high contrast and jet black background. Here's a couple of images taken with my DS 60 scope.
