    New toy just arrived about 30 minutes ago.
    Lunt LS50THA 50mm f/7 with B400 (4mm) Blocking Filter, Pressure Tuned, pretty basic.

    It will be good to hear how you like it.

    I'm going to start with the night sky. Solar seems pretty specialized. If you get a solar specific scope anyway.

    Are filters a viable, relatively inexpensive option for regular scopes?

    I feel the same as the OP. The wife and I went to NEAF as we always do but this time they had a bunch of solar scopes outside. Keep us updated with your experience with that scope.
