I feel for you guys in the cold, but am envious of your clear cold nights. Here, I wear shorts all year, but a very clear night does not happen too often due to the humidity. So, I think there are not to many perfect places!!

....Annnnnd. Now the forecast has been updated to 15"-24" with local higher drifts....

40-50 MPH gust and sustained wind speeds of 30-40 MPH are expected all day Tuesday, into Wednesday morning.

    Perfect imaging weather!

Or you could just move to Australia 😁

We often have weeks of >40 Celsius ... and the middle of the night often stays around 25-30 Celsius.. perfect for observing!!!

I drive by the home of the World Champion Patriots all the time!

Coach would have agreed with me yesterday, sustained winds down to 15 mph, gusts down to 25-30, so went out observing from 10am to noon, not a total waste since I wanted to try my new tilter but I guess my mind was elsewhere as I didn't tune the PT and got no detail.

Going to try today, supposed to be about 24 by noon and light winds. Advantage to working from home can get out at lunch

Yeah I don't do wind. The SE mount is a delicate thing to begin with. Anything over 10-15mph and all bets are off. Besides that once you get into the 20 degree range the scopes electronics start get extremely unreliable.

Not to worry in a couple of months I will be playing dodge ball with thunderstorms on a nightly basis lol

Gotta agree with Arctic (Gordon) and so many others. Cold can be a problem if you're not used to it, but with strong winds everything goes bad. Not only does it make it sooooo much colder and frostbite a real worry, but it also reduces the quality of the views and screws up all sorts of other things (stuff from nature flying towards the scope, stuff that's yours flying off, things you hadn't thought of before flapping or slamming around in bad ways, etc.). A good time for the forums.

I'm not a professional. For me, it's a hobby. I'll happily put up with mere discomfort, but when the weather makes any of my outdoor hobbies unbearable, I'll go inside and do something else without regret. Of course, where I live that weather is much more likely to be 105 degree heat coupled with 80+% humidity.

Yep, waiting on 'noreaster here in SE Penna. also. Expected of 12". A couple days ago, I was wearing shorts in 70* weather.
But Ben, was like you last year. Doing visual in low 20's with spectacular views. Am looking forward to imaging a couple days after storm as it is usually very clear. Only problem is LP is worse due to blanket of snow.
