I was hoping to be in wyoming but I doubt that will happen. The good news is the next total goes roughly right by my house

You need to have alternate sites picked out in case of weather. It is summer in Missouri.

Oh yea, my house gets 30 seconds or so. I'm still going up to St Joe though.

Where will I be? At home, moping, feeling resentful, and probably throwing a tantrum.

Seriously, though, I'm very jealous of all you, especially meeting up. I sure hope it goes well for you!

At least I can make the next one. And I can invite you all to join me then (our house is 40% between the centerline and the edge of totality)!

I will be in my driveway here in Hopkinsville Ky. 5 miles from the exact center (along the line) of the longest possible duration in the country, the exact center of it's path. There will be a few friends over and at least one of my AF buddies here and anyone else who would care to join. My small rural town will explode with visitors and hotel rooms and camping spaces have been long gone.

I'm planning to be somewhere a few miles north of Kearney, Nebraska, somewhere close to the centerline of the totality where I can hopefully find somewhat clear skies. A friend (who is not an astronomer, but a photographer) and I have been planning to make this trip for several months now. I lived in Kearney just a mere handful of decades ago, and it's an area I'm still fond of.

Me too. My driveway is almost dead center of the totality for 2024. Hope I'm still around for it - I'm planning to be.
(BUT...... It'll be April in Northeast Texas. Thunderstorms will be much more likely than clear skies).

Looks like eastern Oregon for me, got hotel booked, noticed that all Oregon campgrounds in the path are fully booked already! Assembling an 80mm scope, mount, and camera for the eclipse expedition, seems like one of those 19th century eclipse party safaris already. Got one astro buddy from Arizona coming up to join in the fun.

Will need some guidance on camera exposures and the like , but 6 months to go still.

    Hoping for clear skies,
    Steve

P.S. Third eclipse, one fine, one clouded out.

Sign me up for that one - 2024? For this one, I suppose I'm going to have to call my sister and arrange to spend some time with her. She is going to be so surprised! She is about a 90 minute drive from Columbia SC - I hope she knows about good viewing sites in that neighborhood.

We are heading back to the states from a little vacation in St. Thomas on the 19th, so we booked a 4 day stopover in Charlotte, NC. I have yet to determine exactly where we will be staying. It beats the 60% coverage we were looking forward to in CT and makes taking the time off of work far more worthwhile. I already purchased eclipse viewing "glasses"...

I will be heading down to the Salem, Oregon area. I booked my hotel last summer (one year in advance) and there was not a single hotel room available within 35 miles of Salem. I'll be staying in Portland and heading a bit south to see the eclipse. Leveye lives in the path of totality and said there was a great state park right next to his place so, I just might go visit him and watch the eclipse from there! (I'll shoot you a PM, Leveye)
