Does the USA have "Star Wars" type laser beams in space in case of a nuclear strike?

This was one of Ronald Reagan's big issues. AS FAR AS WE KNOW, it didn't happen; the technology was too complicated. Now, I'm definitely not a conspiracy nut, but the Pentagon has some pretty nifty stuff at their disposal that, for some reason, they don't tell the public about. So, did it actually happen? Do we have the technology floationg around up there? Frankly, your guess is as good as mine.

Yeah, as far as we know, it never happened. But it sure made Russia put a great deal of money into their military-so much so that the governament fell into financial trouble (supposedly).

I'm thinking about how long the U.S. kept the stealth fighter under wraps, and the blackbird, too. Up to 15 years of total secrecy with technology unimaginable to the public back when it was first developed. Looking back, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we already had it and the world didn't know.
