It seems depressing to think that most humans never (in their entire lifetime) leave planet Earth
Actually, I'm sad to say that some people never leave their home town.
I used to live in Bermuda which is a string of 126 tiny islands - totalling 26 sq miles.
I remember one old lady saying she'd never ever been off the island she was born on. It was only a mile long and 100 yards wide with a population of 50.
She was happy though and felt she'd led a useful life. Which is better?
What I find is a more amazing story is a man in a place called Cheddar Gorge (where the original cheese was made)
They found a skeleton from the stone age in a cave - it was well enough preserved to get a DNA sample. They tested some local school children and their teacher to see if there was any 'close relative'.
There was - the teacher's DNA was so similar that they could have been brothers.
Meaning his family hadn't moved 1/2 mile in 20,000 years
