I would probably go if it were for a short period , couple months or something. But I cant stand to be away from my family very long.

I think I'd stay. It would be fabulously tempting, but I'd miss my friends and family more than I'd enjoy the trip. And then there's that "probing" thing they're so fond of.

If you had ask me this 30 years ago, I would have probably said I would go in a heart-beat. But now, there are too many things I enjoy right here on Earth, and I would miss them. Besides, being much more cynical now than I was when I was younger, I'm not sure I would trust the aliens. Just because they may be more technologically advanced than we, doesn't necessarily mean that they would be more advanced morally.

Interesting Q. Many many astronomers dismiss the very idea/notion of UFO's/Alien Life. Thats a shame IMHO because of the dismissive way it's dealt with. Not very scientific if you think about it !

Sure , many quote the vast expanse of space and time scales ( what the heck IS time anyway ??? ) as a reason it not being likely . Hmmmm another unscientific assumption?

Our ''time signature'' in space is actually a very short one in comparison to other Stars/Suns. Our Sun is roughly halway through its evolution, so about 4.75 - 5 billion years, the current estimated age of the universe is 13.7 billion years. Thats as far as we can estimate with out modern equipment so far . It could be older. Thats plenty time for other life forms to have come and gone .

Would I go ? Hmmmm. No not at the moment, too much to do here first ,lol

I think I would go have my head examined, and lay off the bottle, you know what I'm sayin'.

But just for the fun of Hollywood science fiction, let's say it did happen in a waking dream. It depends on what they looked like, if they looked like E.T. then probably, because he's so cute. If they were like the ones on Independence Day, probably wouldn't go.

I would go,just to check out their technology! Just think, about it. What is going to be here on Earth,in only 500 years?

If it meant leaving my family behind for good, then no. However, if it were a situation like in Contact where it would seem like not very much time had passed then yes I would. I think, in the scenario, we can assume that the aliens are not malicious and that they breath oxygen as we do, yes I would go.

    Fun hypothetical situation, though.

I'd go as long as I could bring people with me.
I think anyone who doesn't think there is a possibility for intelligent life out there, needs to look up and imagine exactly how many stars are out there.
