I wonder if we will ever get there - and if we do, how commercialized it will become? Will we need to beware of large corporations controlling space travel such as in so many science fiction stories/movies? Or do we have more to fear from militarized space?

Either way, it would be interesting to find out. I believe it is our destiny to explore space eventually!

So we have two highly competitive and innovative entrepreneurs pushing forward on lunar launch, landing, and operations systems. Without taxpayer dollars.

NASA "invests" in such companies, in other words they are heavily funded by tax payers dollars. For instance a study claims that NASA saved a lot of dollars by investing in the Dragon capsule .. err, that was before it exploded: https://www.popularmechanics.com/spa...gain-for-nasa/ .

I doubt if every startup will receive the same incentives, if that were the case it would end up costing a lot more instead of saving. In the case of SpaceX vs. ULA it was probably a good thing.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the interesting story. I think it it good for more private enterprises to join the quest. I would like to know more about this new engine that has been under development for three years. Thanks for finding and sharing this link with on here Michael, and the best of regards.
