Just like clockwork! “Nominal” condition reported from lander. I’m really looking forward to seeing the results of the seismometers. Is Mars geologically dead yet? We’ll know in the next two (earth) years...

Cool. I was looking at Mars with my 90mm Mak and watching the live stream on my ChromeBook as it landed.

One of the JPL guys said in a press conference that on the 2020 mission, there will be a helicopter on board! Pretty cool, huh? First helicopter on Mars! I can't wait to see how that goes.

I was traveling back from a turkey holiday on i24 today during the landing. My scheduled gas stop was at the beginning of the broadcast so I put it on and pumped the audio through blutooth in the car. I had two other older family members traveling with me and we talked about how they had listened to the radio during the early Apollo missions. It was pretty cool just listening to the broadcast and imaginging the descent. When I finally saw the first image, which was totally cool, I noted how much more interesting my imagination made the broadcast. Can’t wait to see mars with the dust cover removed.

wow so far the solar panels have deployed and the batteries are charging. It will be nice to see if Mars is active at all. If the core is at least partially molten maybe then we eventually could jump start Mar's Magnetic field then we could rebuild the atmosphere there...
