    Default Viewing planets from NZ

    Hi Kiwis.
I will be spending Easter up at Leigh so will be taking my new toy with me to take advantage of the clear skies up there.
Realistically, what planets am I likely to find this weekend and what size are they going to appear in my Konusmotor 90 refractor scope ?
I am particularly keen to see Saturn but understand the rings are side on at present.
If you can give me a heads up as to the general location of some planets in the sky it will be appreciated.
    Graham.

    Hi Graham

    Welcome to the forum.
It been awhile since I have been on this forum.
I take it you had a look at the night sky over Easter.
    How did it go?
There is a program called Stellarium, free of the net and it is brilliant for showing you what's up there. I use it all the time to plan my viewing evening.

At the moment Mars and Saturn are up just after dusk to the east, to the west Orion is worth a look.
Also the Jewel box just off the Southern Cross.

    Clear sky's,
    John

If you want to find the location of anything in the sky I suggest Stellarium, it's free software and you can set your location to anywhere in NZ (or the world for that matter)
