Default Guide Scope options for South Africa

I need suggestions for the best value guiding options available here in South Africa. What are local SA astro photographers using here? It's to guide a 127EDT refractor that's 950mm.
Should I try to buy local or just head for Amazon?

    Hi Gerald,
You already know my opinion on the matter....
But I think it would be important to know what will interface the best with the mount and goto system you have.

PS I think when it comes to specialty telescope requirements : local is not "lekker"

For a Celestron mount this may do the trick :

Had read that it has too long a focal length at 600mm and to rather stay around 300mm. Also heavy and poor quality focuser.

Maybe this guidescope with quite good reviews:-

I have zero idea about guide scopes, never used or needed one.
So with that being said, I do see one on Technopro. Again, I have no idea if this is what you seek or not.
    Orion Mini 50mm Guide Scope [ORI/8891] - R1,835.96

The orion starshoot is available at Eradanius optics.

OK, I am not from around where you guys are, and unaware of the shipping/tax problems which you all face in getting stuff from overseas, but I did have the guidescope questions recently, and the cheapest I found are for around $60-$70 US

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/50mm-CCD-Im...e/322140242550

    or

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ange...945367478.html

Maybe these are also available where you are....

And I used a cheap webcam as a guide cam as per this thread

cheap & effective autoguiding setup DYI
    AR
TScopes: Zhumell Z8, Bushnell 1300x100 Mak, Meade Adventure 80mm
Mount: ES EQ Nano Mount, Arduino,Stepper RA drive, 50mm guidescope, AR0130 based guidecam
Eyepieces: ES82 18,11,6.7mm, Zhumell 30,9mm FJ Ortho 9mm, assorted plossls, Meade 2x S-FBarlow, DGM NPB filter
Binos: Celestron Skymaster 15x70 (Albott tripod/monopod), Nikon Naturalist 7x35

Thanks for the info AR, But...
The one from ebay : "does not ship to South Africa" the one from Aliexpress : use "standard shipping" that means that at some stage the South African Post Office would have to handle it... they are totally dysfunctional so that's not an option.

PS You guys don't know how lucky are living in a 1st world country!

Ah, well, was worth a try.

I would have thought the aliexpress people would have found a way to get things securely to you in SA.
But that probably costs you more than the item itself.

Maybe DIY attaching an old camera lens or a straight through finder to a webcam is the most affordable way.
