Default Comet Lemmon (C/2012 F6) and NGC 2070

Last week we had a few clear skies over Johannesburg for a change. I took the opportunity to get outside and managed to spend some time with Comet Lemmon and NGC 2070.

The main problem was both targets were in the light pollution from Fourways/Sandton.

The image of Comet Lemmon was 20 30 second exposures with an EOS 1100D and Tamron 70mm lens on a Nexstar 4SE mount. Mounting the camera wasn't as elegant as the solution Nulixx used in his thread. I just used a length of 38mm hardwood in the dovetail and then attached the camera to that using a car window mount.

NGC 2070 was 58 10 second frames with the camera mounted on the Nexstar 4SE in the usual manner.

Both images were processed in IRIS.

Hello Steve. Nice captures of Comet Lemmon and the Tarantula Nebula. Lemmon has that pretty green color, and NGC 2070 has good details in the nebulosity. Thanks for sharing your nice work with us, and best wishes on more clear skies for you.
