Default M57 through a gap in the smog

When I drove home from work on Monday night I noticed that the dust and smog that has been covering Johannesburg was a lot less than it has been for weeks now. I decided that it was worth getting the scope out as there was cloudy weather scheduled to come during the rest of the week. Viewing wasn't that great but I had a go at photographing M57. I took 20 30 second exposures. Of the 20, only 3 were any good. I processed the three in IRIS and after a lot of messing around to get rid of the noise in IRIS and GIMP I ended up with this image. The stars look a bit blobby to me but I guess that is a result of the poor conditions and the amount of processing I had to do to get any kind of image at all.

I was aware that I had very little time before the Moon appeared. It was a bit of a rush getting everything done.

well hopefully this rain will come down and clear the air and settle the dust and smog down. And when its done in a few days the moon wont intervere and you can get some more shots,if this attempt is from that small frame and it looks this great cant wait to see what you get once you have more time and clearer skies

I'm hoping that the clouds will clear a bit sometime this weekend. I'm going up to Mpumalanga so I'll take the scope up just in case.
