    Default Finally!

I finally got a good day for solar viewing at the same time that I wasn't tied up with anything else.

A beautiful blue sky today with just a light breeze. I started my late morning setup - and literally, the breeze started to freshen, and suddenly there were clouds around, where there had been none only minutes before.

I completed my setup, and my wife got to see the white light view of the sun spots before I switched over to the Quark.

The Quark was already heated up and the close up view was pretty good. Not the best seeing today. The atmosphere is turbulent with the Sun warming everything up. Had to wait through some passing clouds, but when I got things right, we had a great view of the Sun spots and the roiling surface. As well, we got to see that flare sticking straight out, too.

I'm so glad that my wife actually got to see all this. Of course, the breeze continued to pick up, so the scope started to get a bit shaky with the Quark at f/30 or wherever. Spending more time than just a glance awarded us several times with a bit of excellent seeing, so the views were tremendous.

I eventually checked the Gong site, and yep, there is what we were able to see today.

What a great time, especially after so many weeks of clouds, and dreary rainy weather up here in New England.

    Thanks for listening!

    smp

Good catch Stephen! We are clouded solid for the next few days, so I likely miss these two.
