I managed approximately 30 minutes of viewing just at sunset, today though it was supposed to be clear it seems it is trying hard to snow instead.

Sort of clear here and 30 mph winds from the south. Hard to drive a car. No hope for a scope.

Or maybe I need a scope on a rope?

    Nope.
