Due to a mature prostate it was easy to wake up and go outside for the Perseids Meteor shower. We were at our house in the mountains and normally the sky is pretty dark and clear. Not this week even last night only the very brightest of objects could be seen. Smoky is sucky.

We have similar conditions in Southern Washington.
The smoke moved out Saturday. I headed out to White River Snow Park on the South side of Mt Hood in Northern Oregon and the clouds moved in.
Sunday the clouds receded and the smoke came back. I just found out that we have two new fires in the Columbia Gorge. One of them to the west and the other to the East.

We're getting a break right now, but last Wednesday the smoke in Portland was so bad that you had visibility reduced to about a mile. Air index was at 170 or so. Been a bad year. I went out and could only see the summer triangle for guide stars, Deneb was barely visible. Smoke from Canada, California, and our own ranging fires has been here for a while now. Last two nights have been clear due to an off shore wind, you got to take what you can get
