Default Too cold and tired, so decided to try a GIF

This is my first try at doing a GIF, what a pain in the neck trying to figure out how to do this is. I did a series of captures for a half hour then at least so far it won't let me use more than 5 or 6 frames. Like my solar pictures it will take practice, but right now I am giving up as I am exhausted!
There is a spicule that is jumping, thought I would see more movement but not bad I guess, this covers about 8-10 minutes of real time.
Remember your first solar pictures, yup that is how I see this one, ugly but at least I have something!

Someone had done one of these, either on here or CN or the Solar Activity facebook page, I wanted to ask him questions about it as I could only use 5 frames before the program refused to add any more saying it is too big.

    Very nice.
I used https://cloudconvert.com/ to convert a MOV file to a GIF. The MOV file has to be more than 10 seconds long to convert.
I made the MOV file using BLINK in PixInsight. There were only 12 frames, so I just repeated them. The MOV files was made up of around 60 frames, the same 12 repeated. But I'm sure other programs can convert pictures into MOV files. Then I uploaded the 10 seconds MOV file and the site produced the GIF file. Perfect

This only took less than ten minutes to complete.

    Dave,
Thank you that was the kind of direction I was looking for.

I need to do a lot of captures and organize all the ones I have since winter is coming and it will be 0-10 degrees F and -20F windchills, so lots of inside PC work, I have all my raw avi's

You can also use Photoshop assuming you have it.
If you do, here is a tutorial that explains how to create an animated gif.

I will say though, that .gif images crush colors down to a 265 color palette and therefore degrade the image quality. You probably could just upload your movies to YouTube and maintain a higher level of quality. Just a suggestion.

Awesome pics though. It's crazy to think that the large filaments on the left probably dwarf the earth...

Follow up. If you don't have Photoshop you can also create them in a program called GIMP. It's basically the same thing as Photoshop but is freeware. So if you a a user that doesn't need Photoshop all that often, save the $900 and just install GIMP.

    GIMP download

Here's a tutorial for animated gifs in GIMP.
