    Default SUNday with my daughter

Yesterday we were cloud dodging getting 30 seconds to a minute of sun viewing.. today it is totally clear.

Clear includes the sun!!! Not a single sunspot I could see. Yesterday we had one one the edge.

So we looked at the Sun and I was teaching my 7 year about how to be careful with the scope and the sun. talked about always putting the sun filter on before pointing the scope near the Sun. And keeping the eye pieces covered just in case.. because the sun can burn or damage stuff.

Then we took her 3 inch magnifier and set some paper on fire to show why even if we're not looking in the scope that letting the sun in would be bad.

Tried to spot Venus.. but nothing.. have to assume it is on the wrong side of the sun to be bright enough for day spotting..

What we did see is lots white tree seeds high up in the air blowing through the FOV.. she liked that a lot too.

Has been a really good weekend with the new scope.

The next big thing will be when the moon is up before her bed time.
