Default Sun first day of spring Lunt LS50

Lunt LS50 double stack ZWO ASI120mm-S

I found the ASI120 can be used with a tilter and the new feathertouch foucuser, but the ASI174 doesn't have enough infocus, comes close but it cannot be used at least the the daystar tilter, however i don't see any NR with the 174 only the 120

There's a lot of activity on that west limb, but the cloud god got me again today.

If that 120 won't do a full image, just take three or four "angles" and put 'em together as a mosaic. Works like a charm.

I use the 120 for "close-ups" for full disk I use the ASI174mm For some reason, may have been a cloud, the center of the disk is soft.

Remember Jeff, you are imaging a sphere NOT a flat disc. The center of the sun is a hell of a lot closer to you than the limb.

Ah ha, yup I keep forgetting that, I often tend to focus on the limb as it is easier to see the contrast. I think it is more acceptable to have the center sharp and the limb soft...

Well if every shot we made was perfect why would we do it and where would the challenge be? I still think Solar is easier than deep sky, if only because I am awake during the day and it tends to be warmer!

The only time I focus on the limb is for a close-up of a Prom. I try to find something more central to focus on ( not easy when there are no sun spots or filaments ).
