Default Skywatcher slider lock screw broken

It's a collapsible 8" Dobsonian with three trusses. One of them (the lock screw tightener) snapped under light duty. I plan to remove the affected truss with hex wrenches, etc. and reassemble when the part arrives. Yes it's under warranty but I can't bear shipping the whole OTA back for replacement for such a minor part. Hard part has been getting the little part ordered, I have been waiting. A third party vendor, I want to name (MODERATORS?) has been really quite helpful as the manufacturer was tricky for me to get in touch with, although they said they will send it.
So, the two functioning trusses actually are reasonably stable but I only have time for occasional use because I'm moving soon. I expect the wear and tear to accelerate without a repair. Anyone else ever have this happen? I really like the scope a lot and the quality seems good overall. I hope to post about viewing with it more in the future. Thanks, EG

You shouldn't have to ship the whole scope. One of the rubber tires on my SkyWatcher Dob focuser cracked and came off. I e-mailed support at SkyWatcher USA and they sent me two new tires, no charge.

McMaster Carr mail order is a great source, you will have to know size and thread pitch. Chinese bolts are notorious for spotty quality so replace all of same.

The site for Highpoint Scientific that I got a moon filter and Barlow lens from are the ones who were helpful in getting me in touch with the manufactuer for the part. I appreciate the tip on McMaster Carr.
