Question Skywatcher Collapsable dobs PRO & CONS

Thinking about one in the 12 to 14 inch range. I have had Orion dobs with no real problems. One thing I wonder if there is any way to put a shroud
around it at all? I would think there must be a way to do it to add 3 more removable struts out of light weight aluminum that can be removed to collapse it. Any ideas welcome and appreciated. Thanks

I bought that one and it works very well. It has three poles sewn in so it doesn't block the light path.

I have the 14" and Astrozap makes a shroud that fits perfecly. As far as size, the 14" is actually more portable than the 12", as the base quickly and easily disassembles into 4 separate pieces with hand screws.

Damn! I never saw that one. Half the price of the Astrozap!

Would Skywatchers Dobs be more highly rated than Orion Dobs of the equivalent aperture (talking purely performance)?

Same mirror and same GoTo as the Orion so performance should be the same. I feel the collapsible is more of a premium feature but for each their own I guess.

Today received my own Skywatcher collapsable OTA ( Eight inches). Extending the Secondary mirror section everything caught on the set of holes partway up the extension rails. Why are these holes there? To shorten the focus length of the secondary mirror? How are they used?

Those are for binoviewers or cameras. They require more in focus than allowed at the normal setting.
