Default What No Portuguese Astronomy Forum?!!

Hi everyone. My name is DrVonnie and I have been a member for about 12 hours. I live in the Algarve, Southern Portugal, and I am having to scratch very hard to find other (another?) Portuguese astronomers. I have been trying to get a group together for about 3 months and am in touch with 2 others, one of which does not have a telescope yet. Another astronomer here does this for his business and holds astronomy camps which people can attend, but is not really a good candidate for a club. Although he told me we could rent his scopes for €20 for 2 hours!

So if there are any members here who reside in this area, let's hear from you. There have to be more than 3 of us in the whole country! Just a hop and a skip away, in the UK, there are 100s of clubs. A few English members must have found their ways here if only for 300 days a year of clear skys and sunlight!

    Holding my breath.....!

Hi and welcome DrVonnie! In the search bar at the top right of screen simply type in 'portugal' and you will find a list of posts all containing the word Portugal. And some of these are members from Portugal. You can now go through them and try to connect with them. Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Hello DrVonnie. We have had several new members from Portugal join the forum, and I see that you have found a couple already. You might want to post a thread in the off topics sub-forum and ask "Who is from Portugal" and see what additional responses that you get.
Welcome to the forum, and best wishes on starting your own Portuguese astronomy group soon.

Unfortunately the 2 threads that you posted to were almost 3 years old. One OP post once and hasn't posted since so it might be worse then you think.

Welcome to the Forum DrVonnie, glad to see some more nightskiesnetwork viewers making to the astronomy forum so they can become future broadcasters. Good luck finding more astronomers in your area, I feel the same in North Dakota.
